On a typical day, this is how our living room looks like.

Each time I clean up or get the lil' missy to clean up, she would take other things out. We have a 1-2-3 sofa seater at home and sometimes all the 3 seats will be filled with her toys. I have been throwing some old and broken toys away but I don't know why the toy baskets are still full. I have only one kid but just look at all the mess. Irene who came on Sunday said we have so many toys in the house that I can open a nursery *chuckle* Time to do some spring cleaning again.

You Got A Wish?

When we were at one of the malls recently, we saw Santa Claus, an elf, a gingerbread boy and a santarina walking around, greeting the shoppers. As soon as Ashley saw them, she clinged to me tightly. Later, Santa sat on a chair and the children sat next to him to take photos. I asked Ashley if she would like to sit next to Santa and have her photo taken and she said no. She even started to cry and pulled me away :)

Today I came across a site called SitOnSantasLap.com and had a fun time uploading a photo of Ashley on to the lovely CEIVA digital photo frame. She also enjoyed sitting on Santa's lap virtually and did not cry. It was so fun that I could not resist uploading my photo too. I hope Santa would grant my wish as well. I wrote about having some visitors to our home yesterday. Here is a photo of the cute little girl who dropped by with her parents.

Could you recognize her? She's none other than sweetie Krystal with her daddy and mommy. I finally get to meet Irene and her family. You look prettier in person, Irene ;) Well, Ashley had a great time playing with 'mei-mei' yesterday. I told her in the morning that we were expecting some visitors later in the afternoon and she kept asking me when is mei-mei coming. As soon as she saw Krystal, she was so happy.

Our Tang Yuen

My mom woke up real early this morning to make the "tang yuen". She kneaded the rice flour and rolled them into small tang yuen. First she made 12 big ones to signify the 12 months in a year. Then the rest are small and medium sized ones.

Since my recent brief bout of fever, my tastebud had changed. All of a sudden, I don't like having vegetable soup with fishball/beancurd for dinner. Neither am I keen on eating my ham or egg sandwich for lunch :( So what did I do? I make myself some blanched vegetable with oyster sauce dressing. I also added some fish balls or beancurds. The ingredients are the same as the vege soup actually. As for lunch, I make tuna sandwiches sometimes.

Then today, I strayed off from my diet. I had half a bowl of tau fu fah and 1/4 of a muffin. wawawawawawawawawa. I really regret having eaten that because I know tomorrow, being Dongzhi Festival, I will be gobbling down some "tang yuen". Sigh. I better be back on track on Monday.

Dear God,

Please don't let me fall off my diet wagon.

Please help me to stay motivated.

Happy Winter Solstice Festival

It's "Dongzhi" or Winter Solstice Festival already this coming Monday. Many people will be preparing and making "Tang Yuan" or glutinous rice balls. Mmmm.....delicious!!! My mom will be making them as usual. I hope Ashley would like eating them. Of course, I'll get mom to make more pink colour "tang yuan" since Ashley likes everything that's Pink :D Mom's glutinous rice balls are pretty simple with no fillings and they will be in different sizes and colours. She'll cook the balls in syrup water with pandan leaves. Maybe this year, I will try to make something different ;)

Yesterday morning, Ashley was playing in the living room and her daddy was sitting nearby reading his newspaper. I was in the kitchen preparing her breakfast when I heard my husband said, "Hurry, quick, give it to mommy". Then the lil' missy said, "No". I heard my husband telling her again to give it to mommy. So, I came out to check what was happening. Guess what????

Ashley had a booger on her finger and the hubs wanted her to give it to me so that I can clean it up.

I heard my doorbell rang around noon today and I saw the courier man at the gate. This is what I received.

A package from EOE Online. Yay!!!! My precious photos have arrived. Remember my earlier post regarding this fabulous online retail site where we can have our photos printed, fast and easy without leaving the comfort of our home? In just a few days' time, I received my 50 4R photos and the photos are so nice and clear. Check out what I received below :

Photos of me and my munchkin :D Now I can't wait to hang some of them on my wall. I have actually meant to decorate my wall with photos since I moved in last January but I was too lazy to go out and get them developed :D Well, now, I can fill up my home with all those precious photos in just a few clicks of a mouse. I had problems submitting my photos last week and their Customer Support Executive, Irfan, patiently guided me step by step all the way. Isn't that nice? New Addition

As if we do not have enough toys in our home, hubs bought A Creature Chair for the lil' missy recently. We were shopping in Tesco and he found this funny-looking toy/chair which he said is just perfect for his princess. Think it cost less than rm20.

As soon as we reached home, he took it out and started to blow up the chair.

This is how it looks like and no, it doesn't go with my furniture at all *shake head* Although it is filled with air, this Creature Chair is not a floatation device and should not be used in the water (according to instructions on the box).

My Trip To Daiso Yesterday

and here is a sneak peek of my stuff. A set of animal foodpicks (i took 2 sets initially but i put one back), 2 silicone dish sets (one in oblong shape and one in animal shapes), colourful spoons and forks, a packet of 50 foodpicks in the shapes of fruits, a heart shaped cookie cutter and a small pink bento box. The lil missy wanted the pink polka dots :D

All these at RM5 each. Cheap or not? When cashier was taking the things out from my basket to count, my husband was standing nearby, rolling his eyes. What to do eh? He married a shopaholic......muahahahahahahahaha. Oh I also bought something for my house. Will blog about that later ;) Ok..so all you bento-crazy mamas, check out Daiso quick!!!!

Time For Some Cookware Shopping

I made some scrambled egg for Ashley for her breakfast this morning. I also put in piece of cheese. Yummy! However the egg did not turn out really well. My non-stick surface of the pan is not non-stick anymore. Part of the egg was stuck and it was pretty frustrating. I bought this non-stick frying pan about a year ago and it is a very popular brand which is renowned for its good quality. I do not understand why it lost its non-stick qualities in such a short time. Guess it is time to start shopping for a new one.

While scouring the internet for more information, I discovered the infinite circulon non-stick frypan. This beautiful frying pan has a fantastic non-stick surface with a smooth exterior and a lip to prevent spillage. It is great for frying fish, meat, vegetables and just about everything a die-hard stir fry fan would like. We did not go out earlier today so we decided to go out for dinner. I'm now typing this post from Starbucks in Jaya One. We had dinner at the BBQ Chicken place again. Yeah...that's our fav place. I had their BBQ Chicken sandwich, hubs had the rice set and Ashley ate the Chicky Spaghetti meal. We walked around the place after dinner and now enjoying my Java chip frap at Starbucks. Bliss :D Got to go back on the usual diet tomorrow. If not, I may have to resort to Leptovox since I have been a lot yesterday and today. This morning I had a plate of the sinful curry noodles. Yikes!!!

Daiso Has Opened At The Curve

How can a shopping crazy woman like me miss out on the opening day eh? Yes, I went to Daiso today and boy, there were so many people in there. So, are there many items in Daiso? Yes!!!! Lots of stuff for bentos too :D I almost went crazy in there. I'll post the photos of my loot later *wink* In case you are wondering what is Daiso, it is a popular Japanese $5 store :D

Ok, here are what we got at the Crocs warehouse yesterday :D

A pair of leather canvas shoe for hubs (Regular RM260 but was selling for RM140) and a pair of Crocling for Ashley (Regular price - RM129 but was selling for RM60). I wanted to buy the Princess Crocs for her which is in a softer shade of pink but she insisted on getting this fuschia one because it looks like her first pair of Crocs *slaps forehead* I didn't get anything for myself because there weren't many choices for women.

I also got the above Fisher Price toys for a friend's new baby. Only RM10 each ;) A friend of mine went to the warehouse sale this morning and she had to queue for 45 mins before she could enter the building. My sister passed by the warehouse this afternoon and the queue was so long that people were lining up all the way from the main gate. Crazy eh?

Crocs Warehouse Sale

Hey everyone!!! Just want to share with you - Crocs Warehouse Sale is ON!!! Started yesterday and will be on till Sunday, 14th December 2008. We dropped by my dad's office today and made a detour to the warehouse as it is just nearby (Bandar Sri Damansara). If you are into Crocs or Fisher Price stuff, do check it out. Ok, there are many Crocs (plastic/canvas) for men and also Crocs for kids. Not the latest collection though. Besides shoes, there are also Fisher Price toys for babies to 2 year olds. The toys for babies are really cute and CHEAP - RM10 to RM20 each. Another good buy which I saw was the Fisher Price Highchair. It is selling at RM300. Very nice and colourful. I believe this is a really good price for a Fisher Price product. There are also some Crocs clothing for kids and adults. Oh, I also saw the Avent baby wipes - 3 big packets for RM15.

I was in the mood for some pancakes. So, I decided to make some for Ashley and hubs. Got some leftover evaporated milk from the steamed choc cake 2 weeks back. Mixed some all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt, some sugar, baking soda, an egg and water together. I made about 6 pieces of odd-shaped pancakes. Hubs ate one and asked me why the pancakes are so thin O_O. This is the Chinese style pancakes lah. Anyway, he did say they are good ;) The lil' missy also like it :D Sure look a bit like roti canai eh?

How Was Your Long Weekend?

We were fairly busy yesterday and today. We attended a birthday party on Sunday morning. Great to meet up with some friends BUT I left my camera at home. So no photos :( Then yesterday night, hubby brought us to a restaurant in Puchong to try the dry Bak Kut Teh. It was pretty good and I have never tried this before. Again, I forgot my camera *slaps forehead* We ordered a bowl of dry bak kut teh, a bowl of the normal one with soup, a small plate of yau char kwai and a plate of braised lettuce. The meal comes to RM60. A bit pricey for just a few plates eh?

Today we went to Mid Valley to look at the Christmas decoration. It is really nice and Ashley was very excited to see it. They even released some fake snow at certain time of the day. My, the mall was packed to the brim today. We reached there around 4pm and parking was so hard to find. Just crazy. There are sales in every shop but I couldn't find what I was looking for though :( So, how was your weekend?

Eventhough today is Saturday, we do not have any plans to go out. Just want to laze around the house. Since I have been unwell for the past few days, I think it is better that I stay at home and rest more. Got lots of cleaning to do. I can see a layer of dust on the cupboards and the tv stand. How Do You Withdraw Money From Paypal?

All these while, I have been using my MIL's account in Canada to transfer the funds from my paypal. However, I am not allowed to use her account anymore *panic mode start*. I have an Al Rajhi Bank debit card which I got last year but didn't use it. Hence the account is dormant. I went to the branch today to activate it. So, when I got back and tried to add it to my paypal, it wouldn't work. I can't add it no matter how many times I tried. Then I call Al Rajhi Bank and the customer support said I should add as a Secondary Card instead of Primary. So I tried that and after a few times, it could be done. However, a message is still showing that I need to link it :( I don't understand. Has anyone encounter this problem?

Maybe I ought to apply for the Public Bank Debit Card instead. Sigh.....so much problem with just a debit card. Appreciate it if you could let me know how you withdraw money from paypal. Thanks.

Am feeling better today but still sick. The past 2 days were really terrible. I have a cold, cough and fever. I was really tired and my body ache all over. This is the first time I have ever been this sick. The fever has gone away today and I feel a lot better. Ashley has also come down with a runny nose. Luckily my mom is here and she brought Ashley to the paed yesterday. I could barely walk straight yesterday. While I was resting on the sofa, Ashley would come and disturb me. What I did yesterday ....

It was my mom's birthday yesterday and I've decided to make her a cake. Yes, I made a cake...not baked her one. That's because I don't have an oven. So, I steamed her a Moist Chocolate Cake :D I first saw it at this mommy's blog and I goggled for more. Chow Times also has the recipe ;)

Making this cake is a bit more work than the steamed banana cake as this one requires some cooking. Got to cook the milk with the sugar and etc. Then got to cook another round for the chocolate toppings. I burnt the toppings a bit because I walked out of the kitchen for a while :( Nevertheless, the cake turned out ok.

Mixed everything up and here is how it looks like before steaming

My mom said it's good and hubby thinks so too. Ashley also couldn't wait to eat it because she could smell the cocoa and thinks that her mommy was making Koko Crunch =). After eating a piece, I asked her if she wanted another slice and she said, "No, Thank You". O_O

Here is the recipe I found on the internet:-

Ingredients:-

Cake Layer

375 g butter or corn oil (use corn oil for softer cake)
2 cups of castor sugar
1 can of Evaporated Milk
4 Eggs lightly beaten with a fork
2 cups of Plain flour
1 cup of Cocoa powder
1 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Vanilla Extract or 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence

Chocolate Topping

1 can of Condensed milk
1 tsp of Vanilla extract or 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
1/2 cup Corn oil
1/3 cup Cocoa powder,sifted 1/8 tsp Salt

Method:-

1) Combine castor sugar, evaporated milk, vanilla extract or essence and butter in a saucepan.

2)Stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted,off fire and keep warm. If using corn oil, mix everything and stir till well mixed.

3) Add the beaten eggs into the slightly cold evaporated milk mixture and stir till well mix.

4) Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda into a large mixing bowl then pour the eggs mixture over the flour and stir till well mix (cake batter should be runny).

5) Heat up the steamer. Lined and greased a 9 inch baking pan or 2 9'inch sandwich pan. Pour the batter into prepared pan and place the pans into the steamer and cover the top of the pan losely with a piece of aluminuim foil.

6) Steam over medium heat for 1 1/2 hour (45 mins for 1/2 recipe/ingredients).

7) Cool the cake in pan before turning out for further decoration.

8) Combine the sifted cocoa powder, condence milk and oil. Stir over low heat till thicken (stirring all the time).

9) Add in salt and vanilla extract or essence.

10) Cold the chocolate topping a little before spreading on the cold cake.

It's A Crazy Day

Today is one of those crazy days where I wish there are more than 24 hours. It's also my mom's birthday so I made a cake for her earlier (will blog about in another post :D ). Got some assignments to finish as the deadline is today. While I was busy in the kitchen, Ashley fell down from the toilet. She was rushing to get off the toilet bowl and accidentally slipped. My mom saw it and quickly helped her up. Thank God she didn't hit her head. Of course, the princess bawled her eyes out. For the next hour or so, she was whiny *shake head*.

Tonight we will be having dinner with my dad's cousins who came from Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Dinner's going to be in Kota Damansara so we have to go real early to beat the Friday rush hour traffic. Maybe hang around at The Curve till dinner time which is going to be around 8pm. Ok.....gotta go now and finish off some things before we go out. Tootles.

She was enjoying her cookie and I totally forgot about it. She wanted to tell me that she is done eating :D Ashley does not get to eat cookies every day. She only gets one or two a week and sometimes she gets to eat honey stars or cocoa crunch. I don't let her eat them too much because she is heaty person and I think eating too much cookies would worsen it. She'll get ulcers on her mouth or throat infection. Therefore, whenever she gets the chance to eat Oreo (her favourite), she'll take her own sweet time to bite it. She would also open it and start digging the cream with her fingers. She'll also do like the advertisement, licking the cream off the cookie *slaps forehead*

This good-looking actor is one of the leads in a new Hollywood film, SubHysteria which will be released in April 2009. Lavrenti is originally from Mumbai, India but he is currently based in New York. A graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Insitute in New York, Lavrenti has been featured in numerous advertising campaigns and became popular with the South Asian community in the US for his TV commercials for TATA Trueroots. After seeing how nice this lovely mommy made them, I went out and bought these :-

Colourful mixed choc flakes, heart shapes flakes and pink chips :) I buttered the bread and sprinkled some onto them like this for Ashley :-

Ashley likes bread and I thought it would be fun to add some colours to the bread :) It took her more than 30 minutes to finish the mixed choc chip slice because she was slowly picking out the chips to eat *slaps forehead* After making this fairy bread, she has been asking for them :)
